Hive Workshop Website is Broken

Posted 8/8/2026, 6:02:11 PM
The Hive Workshop website is broken. If they ban you, they send you some sort of "Hive Direct Message" explaining why, but it says you can't read the message that explains why because of the ban.

This would be a good topic to post in the Hive Workshop site discussion section, if anyone reads this who isn't banned from that site. Personally I think that discussing the topic of getting banned or the reasons behind it, such as for appeals or even if there are no appeals for growing and improving in understanding of the reason why, would be beneficial to the site.

Seems quite dumb that they don't allow that.

Anyway guys, don't worry about me doing a grendel on the Hive, because the Hive website already did a grendel on me or whatever.

But at the end of all your progress, when you have it all, did you accomplish your dreams?

Man I love these Warsmash forums.

Let's hope I dont get banned by the AI moderator that I had build the forum.

Another strange thing about Hive is the way that bans work. Let me attach some screenshots:

Attached are more screenshots...

So over my years using the Hive, and people probably know this:

  • From 2008, I created the account "Retera"
  • The mid 2010s and probably in the year 2014, there was a guy DeuceGorgon who was DMing me on Hive every single day asking me to make stuff for him. I was a busy/tired college student. At some point for my own fun -- not really knowing the Hive multi-accounting rules -- I made a second account called Redwing.Asingaurd and posted a model request because I was curious if the DeuceGorgon method of operating actually worked. If I went around demanding people to make stuff for me, would they? NO! Obviously not, nobody on Hive ever did my model request.
  • At the time, in the college dorm 2 rooms down there was another guy who played Warcraft 3 but I didn't know it. When I made this third account from that area, Hive triggered some alerts and they sent me a report on Retera to ask what the deal was. Their report included the Retera account, the Redwing Asingaurd account, my cousin's account from our recently holiday hanging out where he wanted to use Hive, and the account probably of the guy 2 doors down in the dorms. I replied to the Hive staff as Retera and cited (1) my knowledge of the dorms as having multiple users, and (2) identified my cousin's account. I omitted information about who/what Redwing.Asingaurd was, and as a result the Hive (I surmise) flagged the Retera and Redwing.Asingaurd accounts as being multiaccount-alert-immune ish.
  • On rare occasions for 2 years until 2016, I would sometimes log into Hive as the Redwing.Asingaurd account. Sometimes it was to vent. I think at one point I had a chat with the people making Ultimate Battle but I ended up also kind of rambling and venting in a way that probably made them very uncomfortable, which I sort of regret.
  • Above mentioned activities led to sometime in 2016 probably I think the Redwing Asingaurd account got banned, I'm forgetting off the top of my head the reason why but if I recall it was probably a case of turning myself in (not feeling good about above communications, etc) obviously by this time I had become aware of the multi-accounting rule
  • Much later when I was terminated from my job in 2021-2022 holiday season, I had been engaging in silly activities enjoying my success at my job and was actually sending money to someone on Hive to encourage them to build something for me on Warcraft 3 in a way that they had come to EXPECT more, that this would be ongoing. I created a new account Vendro the Wind Mage thinking I would get away from these expectations. I tried to talk the people running the Hive into maybe a world where I would only use this account and end Retera.
  • I had a really good time for about 4 days being nobody, and I played a bunch of maps on Hive and engaged with the site for the purpose of playing Warcraft 3 instead of developing tools or whatever it is Retera does these days (Warsmash, Retera Model Studio, etc, all these things that are a sort of unstated commitment to other people in a nonsense way)
  • After about 4 days they threatened to ban the accounts because of this activity, it was very sad and annoying
  • Also there was maybe a situation where Retera Model Studio needed an update for the people so I think I logged back in there to try to fix, and ruined my aspiration of switching entirely to Vendro account
  • By the late summer of 2022, Hive staff stepped in and banned Vendro account due to my continued activity on both accounts

Now, in 2026 the Hive staff banned Retera account. The stated reason:
- "One month ban for off-topic after repeated warnings
I think what probably pushed me over the edge was that I kept getting pinged on Discord by the questionable character that I sometimes associate with some sort of foreign disinformation campaign, who kept telling me to post in the Hive contest page for the poll to determine the theme of the upcoming model contest. This character is aligned with YourArthas in their vision of trying to have a fanmade upscale remaster of Warcraft 3 that visually matches the original, and wanted me to assist them by taking part in the competition. My post spoke in euphemisms about this and said that "the Russian Illuminati on the dark web" (referring to Discord chat platform, although I didn't say that) wanted me to vote in the poll. And so I said something like "Can I help you guys?" and it seems this was too much for Hive Workshop, and so I had to be banned.

Now that I have shared this slightly off topic history, you can hopefully understand what I am dealing with when I say Hive Workshop site is broken and share these images because they pertain to my 3 accounts, of which there are only 3, and 3 is the number of accounts. And they are all banned accounts, but the bans seem to manifest different instead of working the same.

Redwing.Asingaud is banned permanently, but doesn't get a strikethrough or ban indications on the account.

Vendro the Wind Mage is banned permanently, has the strikethrough on the account, but is able to read Hive messages such as DMs to read about why the ban took place.

Retera is banned for 1 month, it says, but is not able to read about why the ban took place.

This is why I say the website is broken because I believe that the Vendro the Wind Mage Bann banning that allows viewing of DMs should also be how the website works for temporary bans, even though it makes sense that the Redwing.Asingaurd permanent ban would be a ban where all messages shut off.
