This Friday evening as I left to have dinner, I asked the computer to rebuild the WC3C website for me. Got back later in the evening and here it was -- hallucinated into existence by Claude Code. We truly live in interesting times. I did not write software to bring this hallucinated website into existence -- I merely asked the machine. They called this "vibe coding," but I have lately faced substantial enough pressure at my job to utilize this that perhaps in time it will be the only form of "coding" that is allowed.
I understand if some users may feel a certain degree of resentment about this action. These AI systems have many interesting implications for our society, and some of them may be terrible.
This website, at the moment, is not intended to be the official forums of Warsmash. The official Warsmash forums are located at Hive Workshop which has gracefully elected to host Warsmash there.
Instead, I anticipate this forum may serve two purposes:
- A demonstration of the possibility that AI may vibe-code back into existence WC3C in some form, if that were desired
- A place for me to make posts that Hive staff have no moderation for so that I could provide some unfiltered Retera rants or other thoughts
- Perhaps in the future this will become a space where we can mod the officially sanctioned Warcraft 3 Legacy 1.29 or something, targeting Warsmash as the launcher, who knows, we'll see. (Although you could just use Hive Workshop)
